Catching breast cancer early is the best way to treat it and improves your chances greatly if you have the disease. The later stages that it is found in, the more aggressive the treatment must be and then the chances of damaging risks are always greater. So, make sure that you get mammograms routinely and also perform self exams, as well daily or at least twice or three times a week. Usually you can do it by running your hands across your breasts and feeling for any strange shapes or abnormalities that were not there before.

If you feel a lump or some kind of strange shape, then you need to schedule an appointment with a doctor immediately. Also, if you feel some pain or tenderness, in addition to the lump or experience bloody discharge from the nipple, you might actually have something dangerous and will need to confirm it with a doctor immediately.

In addition to checking for lumps, you can also check the surface of the skin to make sure that it is not going through any changes. Signs of breast cancer that you should watch out for include any kind of peeling or flaking skin that might be surrounding the nipple area. All of these signs put together are reasons that you might want to immediately go and have a check done by a doctor to see whether any of these signs might indicate breast cancer.

Keep in mind that even if you do feel a lump or have some of these signs, chances are it is only benign and will not be cancerous, but, do not rest on that assumption. Make an appointment and check it out right away, as catching it early can be the way to really save yourself in the end. A doctor will be able to catch it early and your chances of making it through this and beating the cancer increases dramatically. This goes for men, too, not just women. Though less common in men, breast cancer has been known to appear in men, and that is why both men and women must go and get examinations done for the betterment of their health.

There are a few factors that contribute to the risk of having breast cancer. If you have these factors or they apply to you, definitely keep that in mind so that you can know if you really should go to the doctor more frequently than just a few times every few years. As women grow older, the risk increases, similarly, if you have a history of it in the family background, you have a higher chance, as well.

Breast cancer originates from uncontrolled growth of cells in the breast tissue. The disease attacks more women than men. The risk of getting the disease increases with age. A good number of women get it in the age of thirties and forties of them. The disease therefore affects women during their child-bearing ages. Doctors now agree that, it is safe for a woman to get pregnant after completing their treatment. However, doctors had for long believed that increased levels of estrogen during pregnancy could lead to recurrence. One should never attempt to become pregnant while undergoing treatment. This is because, it increases the chances of the mother succumbing to the disease.

After treatment, one is expected to wait for at least two years before getting pregnant. This period is advised to allow the breast adequate time to heal and also for all toxins in the body to clear. These toxins are usually as a result of the medication one receives during treatment. The period is also used for monitoring the possibility of recurrence. If the disease were to recur, it would most likely happen during this two-year period. Recent studies have shown that getting pregnant after breast cancer treatment increases your chances of survival.

A woman might not conceive after breast cancer treatment. This usually occurs if the radiation treatment was performed on the ovaries. This could be as a result of the disease spreading to the ovaries. Infertility may also be as a result of some of the chemotherapy treatments. When this happens, the woman is unable to conceive and may have to consider other options such as adoption. Another problem associated with the available treatment options is that they could result in early menopause. This also results in a woman being unable to conceive.

Most of the women who can still conceive after breast cancer treatment suffer from a lot of uncertainty and anxiety. They worry about passing on the disease to their children. This is a particularly difficult time for a woman who comes from a house with a history of the disease. Such women worry about conceiving a child who will late go through the same agony as they did due to the disease. When a person is going through such concerns, they need to consult with their doctors who will put their fears to rest. They also need the support of family members who can be relied upon to take care of their children in case they do not survive.

Breast cancer is the cancer initiating from breast tissue, most usually from the internal lining of milk channels or the lobules that brings milk to the duct. Cancers instigating from ducts are identified as ductal carcinomas; those instigating from lobules are identified as lobular carcinomas. Breast cancer is the most general cause of cancer in women.

Cancer initiates in cells, the structural blocks that compose tissues. Tissues compose the breasts and further parts of the body. Ordinary cells develop and segregate to form new cells as the body requires them. When ordinary cells develop old or get scratched, they expire, and new cells take their position. At times, this practice goes mistaken. Fresh cells form when the body does not require them, and old or spoiled cells do not pass away as they ought to. The upsurge of additional cells often forms a mob of tissue called a lump or tumor.

Women with breast cancer have numerous treatment alternatives. The treatment that is most excellent for one woman may not suitable for the other. The alternatives are surgical treatment, radiation treatment, chemotherapy, hormone treatment, and targeted therapy. One may obtain more than one type of therapy. Surgery and radiation therapy are sort of local therapy. They wipe out cancer in the breast. Hormone therapy and chemotherapy are kind of systemic therapy. The medicine goes into the bloodstream and annihilates or organizes cancer right through the body.

It is crucial to take care of your health before, through, and after cancer treatment. Taking concern of yourself consists of intake well and staying as lively as you can. You necessitate the right quantity of calories to sustain a good weight. You also require adequate protein to keep up your potency. Ingestion well may aid you sense healthier and have added energy. Your physician, dietitian, or another health care provider can recommend ways to help you convene your nourishment needs. Many women find that they experience better when they stay energetic. Walking, swimming, yoga, etc can stay you brawny and boost your energy. Exercise may trim down nausea and ache and can craft treatment easier to handle.

Tamoxifen was the first selective estrogen receptor modulator developed and has been used for over 20 years. Recently, several other drugs of this class have been released and more are presently undergoing development. The goal is to develop the “perfect” drug in this class that prevents breast cancer without stimulating the uterus, is beneficial to the skeletal system and is good for lipid metabolism with as minimal side effects as possible. The perfect selective estrogen receptor modulator should also be an excellent hormone replacement agent for women entering menopause.

Tamoxifen is orally administered just like other hormones. Aside from rendering breast cancer cells into apoptosis, it also acts like estrogen on other tissues and has a positive effect on bone metabolism. Tamoxifen, in comparison to estrogen, stimulates the uterine lining more and both substances are equally effective in retaining bone calcium.

Several studies have shown that Tamoxifen increases the cure rate of women with non-invasive breast cancer, but is still controversial in its clinical use. The controversy lies on a recent clinical trial, which aimed to determine if Tamoxifen was effective in primary breast cancer prophylaxis in high risk asymptomatic women. At the end of the trial, Tamoxifen was dealt with severe scrutiny and a large amount of negative press overstating its potential adverse effects for asymptomatic women. There is, indeed, no question that Tamoxifen is an extremely potent drug in the treatment of breast cancer patients. Based on the results of another clinical trial involving the use of Tamoxifen, treatment duration plays a significant role in drug treatment outcome. This clinical trial compared five years versus ten years of using Tamoxifen after the diagnosis of breast cancer. The trial showed that five years of taking Tamoxifen significantly diminished the systemic recurrence of breast cancer. On the other hand, an additional five years added only expense and potential risk of uterus cancer with no additional benefits in cure rate. Not all breast cancers, however, respond to Tamoxifen treatment. Response rate to Tamoxifen varies upon the abundance of estrogen and progesterone receptors in the primary cancer.

Since breast cancers are very heterogeneous, they do not develop in the same cellular way. About 60 percent of breast cancers contain estrogen and progesterone receptors, while others contain less. Tamoxifen appears to be more effective in women who have more of these hormone receptors in their tumors than those who do not. On the other hand, within a given breast cancer, there may be cells that have more hormone receptors than others do. Hence, the effect of Tamoxifen on these conditions varies. It is also possible that over time, breast cancer cells that are hormone receptor positive may evolve and may not contain hormone receptors anymore. This may explain why women who receive a combination treatment of Tamoxifen and chemotherapy may have a better response to treatment than with either therapy given alone. In most cases, when chemotherapy and Tamoxifen are given in a cancer patient, they are given sequentially; initially, chemotherapy is given to destroy hormone receptor negative breast cancer cells and then followed by Tamoxifen, which can then act on hormone receptor positive cells that may be less susceptible to chemotherapeutic drugs.

In a few cases, perimenopausal women seem to have a difficulty with Tamoxifen use. Most premenopausal women in their 30s and 40s almost have no adverse effects with Tamoxifen and older women who are not in hormone replacement have little problem with Tamoxifen treatment.

The major side effect of Tamoxifen is uterine toxicity. Some women taking the drug have endometrial thickening, a stimulation of the glandular lining of the uterus, which can become cancerous if left unnoticed. The chance of developing uterine cancer as a result of Tamoxifen use is quite small, only about one percent. Nevertheless, the uterus must be monitored carefully with either an ultrasound or endometrial biopsy during the patient’s annual pelvic examination if she is taking this drug.

Male breast cancer is rarely found, not even 1% of the total breast cancer cases are of men. Nevertheless, the occurring rate male breast cancer is less compared to women yet the disease have a lot in common for both. Have you heard of Resveratrol? If you get spam email you probably have but may not know much more. But for men the excellent news is that Resveratrol and prostate trouble cures appear to be .We are at a substance found in grapes. Have you heard that red wine is good for you? One of the reasons is that it’s Resveratrol in it, from the grapes. And the Resveratrol prostate trouble link is getting stronger.

Studies are showing a daily supplement of Resveratrol could be a cover against prostate trouble in men, according to the researchers at Houston’s MD Anderson Cancer Center. Resveratrol has other properties profitable to us, including cover against heart disease and is a strong anti oxidant that helps ease swelling too. But it’s the robust credit and prostate trouble link that is manufacturing much excitement. Prostate cancer is one of the number 1 cancers in men, like breast cancer in women.

Studies of the link between Resveratrol and prostate trouble have including injecting human prostate trouble was the lowest in the history Resveratrol to kill those cancer cells or to stop their growth. And it seems that though Resveratrol could be a good form of attack against cancer cells, it does not attack healthy cells. With results like this it seems clear that the intake of Resveratrol each day could be useful for men approaching the prostate trouble age group, over about fifty. And there’s Resveratrol in most dark red wines, so it is a good reason to drink some wine.

However the worlds best supplement firms are now also working to provide additions that contain a profitable form of Resveratrol. a photograph opportunity in the Roosevelt Room. “That is manufacturing a highly effective total health supplement which has not just Resveratrol records. a total of 77 different vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and assorted other substances understood to be of benefit to the health in one daily supplement. It’s cutting edge last year. and results have been impressive.

More and more women are now surviving after being diagnosed with having breast cancer simply because it has been discovered in its very early stages of development. Because so much is being written on the subject more and more women are actually becoming aware of what the symptoms of breast cancer are and what they should do if they feel that they may be suffering from them.

The most common forms of benign lumps a woman is likely to suffer from and which can often be mistaken for being breast cancer are cysts and Fibroadenoma. Although a woman can suffer from these at any stage of her life, they more commonly occur once a woman has reached the age of 35 or beyond. But if you notice some dramatic changes in the way your breasts feel or look then it is important that seek medical advice as soon as possible. The kinds changes we are talking about which may well be caused by the development of breast cancer are as follows:

One of the most common symptoms associated with breast cancer is a lump or part of the breast seems to feel harder and thicker in texture to other parts of it. Also in some cases the skin may be come dimpled and will look just like the skin of an orange does. If you notice at any time the shape of your nipple has become to change or it does something completely out of character. It becomes to turn in or actually sinks back into the breast then this may be a sign of something serious. Plus if you begin to notice a blood colored discharge from this part of your breast it is essential you seek medical advice as soon as you can.

Although not a common symptom that a woman may possibly be developing breast cancer another one is that a rash appears on or around the nipple area. If after carrying out a self-examination of your breasts you find a lump either on the breast themselves or in your armpits, it is advisable that you seek medical attention as soon as possible. If the symptoms of breast cancer can be diagnosed when it is in the early stages of development, then there is an increased chance of the condition being treated and a cure found. This then increases a woman’s chances of actually surviving what used to be the most prevalent of all the cancers around to kill women.

The threat of breast cancer is upsetting for anyone, particularly during pregnancy, but it is not uncommon. Pregnant women and physicians should become more aware of the risk associated with cancer. The obstetricians are usually more focused on the health of the unborn baby than the mother’s possible illness but should be more aware of the risk of breast cancer. Women should examine their breasts regularly and tell their doctor about any changes they discover. Not only is diagnosis often delayed, but there is a high rate of false-negative results of a mammography due to the increased density of the breast during pregnancy. Ultrasonogaphy is the best way to check for cancerous lumps in pregnant and lactating women. Many studies have shown that the tumors in pregnant women are larger and are more likely to spread.

Pregnant women should be encouraged to know that treatment is as successful and safe as in non-pregnant women. Surgery is the best route although there is a small risk of premature labor. Radiation therapy is not offered during pregnancy but patients can be safely treated with certain forms of chemotherapy from three months onwards. This may be continued after the baby is born, although mothers should not breast feed their babies while they are having chemotherapy. Treatments are planned around the expected delivery date and are administered as close to term as possible, Through the process, oncologists communicate regularly with a woman’s obstetrician.

Overall survival of pregnant women with breast cancer may be worse than in non pregnant women at all stages however, this may be due primarily to delayed diagnoses. Termination of pregnancy has not been shown to have any beneficial effect on breast cancer outcome and is not usually considered as a therapeutic option. Termination of pregnancy, however, may be considered, based on the age of the fetus, and if maternal treatment options, such as chemotherapy and radiation therapy, are significantly limited by the continuation of the pregnancy.

Today, breast cancer is not the terrible disease it was a few years ago. Many women survive even after a bad case. Here, too, if it is detected early, there’s that much more of a chance to get absolutely back to normal as quickly as possible. What are the ways that you can prevent breast cancer? Take a look at the measures that you could adopt to prevent this condition. While it is not foolproof, it will definitely help in keeping the disease at bay.

First of all, watch your weight. High estrogen levels mean you could be more prone to breast cancer. The levels of estrogen go up when there is more fatty tissue in the body. This usually happens during menopause when hormonal changes mean that women tend to put on weight. Unfortunately, this is the time when not too many women bother about how they look so they just themselves go. What you need to do is to practice self-control and say a stern ”no” to all fatty foods. This is one way to keep your weight down. Don’t eat because you’re bored or feeling low or you’re lonely. Think slim and get there. It might be worth it talking to your doctor about the quantities that you need every day and the kind of foods to eat and what to avoid. The other way to do this is to exercise.

It’s best if women cut down on the drinking. Never mind what kind of alcohol, anything is bad news as far as breast cancer goes. Why this is so is anyone’s guess but the link between the two is strong so it is best avoided. Maybe the occasional drink when you are celebrating something is fine, otherwise stick to non-alcoholic beverages. What is very good as a preventive is a citrus juice. All citrus fruits are supposed to lower the risks of breast cancer.

Antibiotics and pesticides are also bad for breast cancer. Try and use natural alternatives to get rid of pests and as far as antibiotics are concerned do not use them unless it is absolutely necessary. What is good not only for the heart but to prevent breast cancer as well seems to be aspirin. A regular intake is supposed to be beneficial.

The breast is composed of identical tissues in males and females, that is why breast cancer can also occur in males but the incidence is very low, less than one percent.

Malignant tumors can invade and destroy nearby tissues and spread to other parts of the body, they are cancerous. They may be life threatening. They can be removed but they sometimes grow back. Cells from malignant tumors can spread to other parts of the body. Cancer cells spread by breaking away from the original or primary tumor and entering the bloodstream or lymphatic system. The cells invade other organs and form new tumors that damage these organs. The spread of cancer is called metastasis. When the cells spread, they are often found in lymph nodes near the breast. It can also spread to almost any part of the body; the most common are the bones, liver, lungs, and brain. This new tumor has the same kind of abnormal cells and the same primary tumor, which results to different types of cancer.

What are the risk factors of breast cancer? The exact cause of this disease cannot be determined but doctors often explain why one woman develops breast cancers and another does not. One thing is for sure, bumping, bruising, or touching the breast does not cause cancer. It is also not contagious. Research has shown that women with certain risk factors are more likely to develop the disease. Here are some risk factors for breast cancer:

Age. As a woman gets older the chances of getting the disease goes up. Most cases occur in women over 60. The disease is not common before menopause. Personal history of breast cancer. If a woman has had breast cancer on one of her breast, there is an increased rate of getting cancer on the other breast. Family history. If a family member has had breast cancer, like the mother, sister or daughter, or other relatives (either the mother’s or father’s side) the risk of breast cancer is higher. Certain Breast Changes. Some women have abnormal cells in the breast called, atypical hyperplasia and lobular carcinoma in situ, increases the risk of breast cancer.

Gene Changes. Changes in genes increases the risk of breast cancer, this includes BRCA1, BRCA2, and others. Reproductive and Menstrual History. The older the woman is when she has her first child increases the chance of having the disease. Women who had their first menstrual period before age 12, women who went through menopause after age 55, women who never had children, women who take menopausal hormone therapy with estrogen plus progestin, have risk to having breast cancer. Race. More often, the cancer is diagnosed in white women than Latin, Asian, or African American women.

Other risk factors include: radiation therapy to the chest before age 30, breast density (more dense or fatty tissue are at increased risk), taking DES (diethylstilbestrol), being overweight or obese, lack of physical activity and alcohol. Other possible risk factors are under study, including certain substances in the environment.

Having or experiencing these symptoms may not necessarily mean that you have breast cancer, but you need to be examined by a doctor. Early detection and treatment of the disease if diagnosed can save you from illness or maybe even death.

Cancer symptoms may vary depending on the type of cancer. There are however some general symptoms that all cancer patients may manifest or experience regardless of the type of cancer that they may be suffering from. The signs of cancer often go unnoticed but can be identified if you know what to look for. That is why in this article I am going to discuss three potential cancer symptoms.

1) LUMPS:- As I mentioned above, cancer occurs when your cells start to grow in a rapid, out of control way leading to the formation of a tumor. For certain types of cancer this tumor causes a lump to form on the skin. For example, breast cancer and skin cancer can often be identified from a lump on the skin. If you notice any lumps that appear on your skin and do not go away then you should go see your doctor right away. Most lumps turn out to be none cancerous but it is better to be safe than sorry.

2) UNEXPLAINED BLEEDING:- Bleeding is never a good sign and can be a possible cancer symptom. If you start to cough up blood this is a potential sign of lung cancer. Rectal bleeding can indicate ovarian cancer and prostate cancer. If your skin starts to bleed this is a possible symptom of skin cancer. Bleeding does not always indicate cancer but it is almost always a sign that something is wrong. Therefore, if you notice any unexplained bleeding go and see your doctor right away.

3) UNEXPLAINED WEIGHT LOSS:- If you start to lose weight and do not know why it could be a sign of cancer. One reason for this is that certain tumors in the digestive tract can cause blockages and interfere with digestion. Certain cancers also cause chemicals to be released that increase your metabolism and allow you to burn more calories. Any unexplained weight loss should be treated with suspicion and if it happens you should go and see your doctor immediately.

A lot of the time cancer has no symptoms. However, any of the above signs are an indicator that something is not right and a potential cancer symptom. They should all be treated as warning signs and if you notice lumps, unexplained bleeding and unexplained weight loss you should go and consult your doctor.

Whilst every intention has been made to make this article accurate and informative, it is intended for general information only. Cancer is a very serious, life threatening condition and you should discuss any concerns, treatments or lifestyle changes fully with your doctor.
